Autumn Night

Each raindrop catches
holds silver-lit
a crescent moon.

Each cloud rides
wind surf wild
the blackest sea.

Each star plugs
gaping Universal space
with memories of death.

Each tree launches
dry butterfly-wing leaves
into free fall.

Each storm severs
the life line sap
in rigid trunks of trees.

Each storm burglar
jemmies house roofs
and splits seams.
