Response to Graham Nunn on Fatherhood Day 6

each tide will surge

and swell

moonstruck

sucking and shifting

that subtle line

between shore

and sea

walking on that edge

some ancient urge

draws us back

we shed ourselves

and naked

rake the seaweed

to find the secrets

of the ocean

footprints will fill

and fade

until they wash

memories away

leaving only whispers

of the turning tide

and the bite of salt

to kiss our lips.
